Selain itu, perubahan spesifikasi stills-shooting yang relatif sederhana dengan resolusi yang lebih tinggi, yaitu 16.2 megapixel, sensor CMOS full-frame dan kemampuan untuk menembak gambar continous hingga 10 frame per detik dengan autofocus.
Kemampuan chip baru juga mendorong Nikon menawarkan rentang sensitivitas dari ISO 100-12,800 yang masih dapat
diperluas pada ISO 50-204.800 (Hi-4).
