SONY NEX-7K ini sendiri memiliki bentuk yang sangat mungil dibandingkan fitur yang ditawarkannya. Dengan memiliki SONY NEX-7K, maka anda akan mendapatkan kualitas kamera yang ukuran fisiknya bahkan dua kali dari kamera ini. Nex 7K ini muncul dengan dibekali resolusi mencapai 24,3 MP APS-C dan dilengkapi juga dengan Viewfinder elektronik.
SONY NEX-7K ini menggunakan lensa kit berukuran 18mm - 55mm yang memiliki focal length 35mm dan rentang yang setara 27mm-85mm. Layar LCD yang digunakan Sony 7K adalah LCD berukuran 2,9 inci yang beresolusi 921.600 pixels. SONY NEX-7K memiliki lensa yang dapat diganti-ganti namun tak memiliki cermin yang diganti dengan viewfinder elektronis. Lensa kit SONY NEX-7K ini memiliki Aperture f/3.5. kecepatan Shutter speed NEX adalah antara 30 detik hingga 1/4000 detik.

Pengguna SONY NEX-7K dapat menyimpan foto hasil jepretan di memori eksternal. Slot memori yang digunakan NEX ini mendukung beberapa jenis memori yaitu, SD / SDXC / SDHC dan memorystick duo. Gambar hasil jepretan dari kamera ini akan disimpan dalam bentuk files JPG atau Raw dalam resolusi mencapai 6000 x 4000. Selain itu ia juga mampu menghasilkan video berkualitas HD yang disimpan dalam bentuk file MP4, MTS dan memiliki resolusi 1920 x 1080 berkecepatan 60fps.
Seperti perangkat elektronik modern lainnya yang menggunakan baterai isi ulang, kamera SONY NEX-7K ini juga disiapkan baterai isi ulang. NEX ini memiliki autofocus dengan 25 titik focus. Ia juga memiliki 4 mode pencahayaan lampu flash, 9 mode Exposure, dan kontrol exposure yang dapat diatur antara +/-5 EV. Untuk fitur sistem Image stabilization-nya berada di lensa yang digunakannya.
